Why are these prices different from advertised rates?

Advertised rate cards show the price for a perfectly healthy applicant. These figures are the median of what applicants actually ended up paying after underwriting, published with each sample size — a less flattering, more honest number.

Why these numbers don’t match the rate cards you see elsewhere

Most comparison sites publish carrier rate cards — the price a company advertises for a healthy applicant at an exact age. Real people aren’t rate cards: health history, tobacco use and the plan an agent actually finds for you all move the final price.

We publish the median of what applicants really ended up paying after underwriting, with the sample size next to every figure. It’s a less flattering number — and a far more honest one. How we build these figures is on our About page.
